A drug reference in the order a resident needs it.
Internal medicine residents open a drug reference dozens of times a shift, mid-rounds, phone in one hand. The tools they have are thorough and slow. SecondLine is fast first.
The problem
Existing references hold the right data but present it for pharmacists and students, not for a resident making a decision in the next thirty seconds. So the resident switches between a reference, a chat model, a product monograph and a search engine to answer one question.
What SecondLine does
- Answer in seconds. Dose for the primary indication, route, onset and duration, and the adverse effects that matter sit on top of every drug page. Full pharmacokinetics are one tap down.
- Search the way residents type. By drug, brand, class or indication — “cap” finds first-line therapy for community-acquired pneumonia, first-line first. Search is offline and instant.
- Clinical nuance that monographs leave out. Side effects kept distinct from toxicity. Contraindications marked absolute or relative. Whether a drug is still actually used in modern practice.
- Evidence you can see. Every claim carries its source and grade, so trust is visible at a glance rather than assumed.
Where it stands
SecondLine is in active development and in daily use by its founder on internal medicine rotations in Ontario. A public release will follow once the data set has passed clinical review.
